I think I've gotten a lot better at being a non-discouraging editor (seriously, dialing down the self-loathing has helped A LOT), but I still worry. When I was in my early 20s, I thought that Flannery O' Connor quote was really funny, about the problem with writing programs is they don't discourage enough people, ha ha. Now when I see it I think of my old self and I cringe and cringe and cringe.
